In Stockholm
In June, 2019 we visited statues, busts, graves and pharmacies associated with these men. The sites are detailed in Chapter 19 of Traveling with the Atom. The most picturesque of these were the statues of Carl Wilhelm Scheele on Flora's Hill in the Humlegärden (Hops Garden) and Jöns Jakob Berzelius in his square (Berzelii Park). We visited the Nobel Museum (Nobelmuseet) in the Stortorget where we were cordially hosted by Dr. Ulf Larsson, senior curator at the museum. We also visited the Alfred Nobel Björkborn in Karlskoga, a two-hour drive west of Stockholm. Here we visited Nobel's laboratory with much of his original equipment and the manor where he spent his summers from 1894 to 1896.

Let us know if you did or did not enjoy a site in the book, what changes may have been made at the site, whether you agree with the number of atoms that were assigned to the site, and so forth. (All sites in the book are rated from 1- to 5-atoms based on their perceived appeal to travelers interested in the history of the atomic concept.) Also please feel free to suggest other places that should be added. Here is your chance to exchange information, share experiences, and ask questions of each other and the author.

In July 2019, we visited the D. I. Mendeleyev Institute for Metrology (VNIIM), the Mendeleev Museum-Archive in the Twelve Colleges Building of St. Petersburg University, and the Lomonosov Collection in the nearby Kunstkamera. At the VNIIM we were kindly hosted by Dr. Elena Ginak, Director of the Metrology Museum. For admittance to the Museum-Archive we corresponded with Dr. Igor Dmitriev, the director of the museum. In the Kunstkamera we were kindly hosted by Dr. Tatiana Moiseeva, Chief of the Lomonosov Museum from 2002 to 2009 and Scientific Secretary of the Lomonosov Commission of the St. Petersburg Scientific Centre of the Russian Academy of Science (2004-2014).
